OA Alliance Releases New Toolkit on UN World Ocean Day

Every June 8, we have an opportunity to raise global awareness of the benefits humankind derives from the ocean and our individual and collective duty to use its resources sustainably.

Ocean and climate are intrinsically linked -The ocean is a major driver and amplifier to our climate system and, at the same time, the ocean is impacted by changes to our climate.

Communities are already experiencing negative impacts of climate change on marine species and ecosystems around the world. From fishing to tourism to aquaculture, climate change is impacting marine jobs, livelihoods, cultural traditions and food security.

That's why OA Alliance members—alongside many friends and partners—are standing reading to continue progress, share success stories and compelling case studies for climate and ocean solutions in 2020 and beyond.

To celebrate this important day with you, the OA Alliance is excited to share an updated OA Action Plan Toolkit and unveil our new look.

Members of the OA Alliance are helping to promote and drive implementation of actions, including nature-based solutions, that address the causes of ocean acidification and increase biodiversity, adaptive capacity and resiliency of coastal communities.

Under the leadership of its diverse members, the OA Alliance is sharing growing scientific knowledge about impacts of ocean acidification. This improved knowledge helps members increase urgency for climate change mitigation and develop and implement on-the-ground, innovative actions that will help communities and industries adapt to future changes and build resilience.   The diversity of members helps to showcase a range of innovative actions and policy solutions.
