Global Symposium of OA Practitioners Takes Place in Lima, Peru
The 5th International Symposium on the Ocean in a High - CO2 World took place September 12-16 in Lima, Peru.
This important conference brought together inter-disciplinary partners to share global and regional advances in observations, modelling and research--all of which are crucial for helping policy and decision makers respond to climate-ocean change.
The Symposium emphasized the importance of delivering science that is responsive to local and community needs, including socio-cultural aspects of climate-ocean change.
The new UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainability endorsed programme, OA Research for Sustainably (OARS) highlighted primary outcomes and invited participation from academic, governance, sea food industry and civil society communities. We all must play a part in illuminating information needs most relevant for policy, management and decision making.
