Global Climate Action Summit 2018

Date:  September 13 – Oceans Affiliated Event 

Time:  8:00 am – 10:30 am, breakfast buffet served at 7:30 am

Location:  Aquarium of the Bay (Pier 39 – Embarcadero and Beach Street)

The International Alliance to Combat Ocean Acidification hosted subnational, national and civil society leaders who are working to support coastal communities impacted by ocean acidification to come together to discuss actionable steps to address changing ocean conditions. Governments from the local to national levels shared policy solutions they have developed within their regions and across climate agreement frameworks through “OA Action Plans.”  Global Climate Action Summit delegations also announced their commitment to join the OA Alliance and work toward local to global policy commitments.

  • United Nations Ocean Envoy, Peter Thomson

  • Governor of Washington State, Jay Inslee (invited)

  • French Minister of Ecological and Social Transition, Nicolas Hulot

  • Mayor of Vancouver, British Columbia, Gregor Robertson (invited)

The OA Alliance has 60+ members, including national governments, states, provinces, tribal nations, and cities, along with research institutions, businesses and NGOs, and welcomes your participation. The OA Alliance is building on the momentum of the historic Paris Climate Agreement by taking actions to protect the health of the oceans and address the impacts of climate related changing ocean conditions on our economies and coastal communities.
